This was my first time staying here. As you’d expect from a place that’s been around for 120 years, the atmosphere was great and I had a very comfortable stay. I was surprised at how clean the restrooms were. There were some areas under construction, so I’m sure it will continue to improve and become an even better mountain lodge. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The location is fantastic. I enjoyed the wonderful scenery while hiking in beautiful weather. I have great respect for the staff who, despite the harsh conditions, maintain a mountain hut of this size and serve hikers every day.

Since it wasn’t busy, they upgraded my room for me. The view of Mt. Tsurugi from the room was absolutely amazing. Everyone at the inn was so nice—it was the best. The restroom was great, too! It was just like the restrooms at a shopping mall. While the whole of Japan was struggling with two typhoons hitting at once, Hakuba was sunny and practically empty—I don’t know what it would be like if it were crowded, but but anyway, it was quiet and relaxing—I was so happy. I wish they’d provided soy sauce for the mackerel at breakfast. The miso soup was incredibly delicious! The rice was cooked to perfection! Natto, nori, and the view! I have absolutely no complaints—it became a memory I’ll cherish for a lifetime. I’ll definitely be back.

My stay here in Japan after coming from Taiwan was absolutely wonderful. The staff at the mountain lodge were very kind, and I stayed in a deluxe room for two nights in a row. Aside from not being able to use the shower, it was almost no different from a hotel at the foot of the mountain. Also, that lemon soda was really delicious~~~. It was so good. When climbing during the late-snow season, you really need to be extra careful about safety, and some sections were definitely dangerous. I’d like to thank all the staff at Hakuba Sanso. Thank you very much.

Since there were only 10 guests, I had booked a semi-private room, but I was able to use a 6-tatami-mat Japanese-style room all to myself. I stayed for several nights, and I appreciated that they varied the dinner menu each night.

Upon arrival, we received a complimentary bottle of Amino Vital (Gold). The hospitality really showed how kind the innkeeper is. Since it was the off-season, they kindly upgraded us from a semi-private room to a 6-tatami-mat private room at no extra charge. The view from the room was fantastic, offering a panoramic view of Mount Tsurugi and other peaks (I don’t think the rooms on the opposite side had the same view). I only had dinner there. It was hamburger steak curry, and the portion was substantial. It’s a mountain lodge I’d definitely like to visit again.

It was an 8-person room, but since there were only three of us, we had plenty of space. The room was clean—nothing to complain about. The pillows were flimsy and saggy, which didn’t suit me, so next time I’ll bring my own! Dinner was hamburger steak curry, and we could even get seconds, so I was very satisfied.

The four of us stayed in an 8-person room and had a very comfortable stay. The hamburger steak curry for dinner was delicious, and we were even able to get seconds, so we were very satisfied. We also received a sticker commemorating the 120th anniversary (amazing!!), and the innkeeper’s warm personality made us big fans. We switched our breakfast to a bento box so we could watch the sunrise, and I was thrilled to find that it included shumai, salmon, and plump, delicious umeboshi—not the usual crispy kind. We are so grateful for the wonderful service. We enjoyed everything: the Tsukumo grass, the Urupusou, the ptarmigans, the Milky Way, the sunrise, and the Brocken spectre.

I climbed from the Great Snowfield for the first time. I was having trouble connecting to the internet at the front desk, but someone kindly told me, “The Wi-Fi works here,” so I was able to check in smoothly. After listening to the briefing, I took a leisurely rest in my room. I changed clothes and had a drink at Sky Plaza, where I had a great time chatting with people I’d met on the mountain. I finished everything on my plate—the miso soup was so delicious I even had seconds! ♪ After dinner, I went for a stroll to look at the flowers when, to my surprise, a ptarmigan appeared right at my feet! I’m so glad I got to see it! Thank you. Thank you for your hospitality.
