This was my second visit, and while Yari Onsen Cabin—where you can enjoy the “Heavenly Hot Springs” as often as you like—is a bit of a hike to get to, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. This time, too, I soaked three times and felt my mind and body completely rejuvenated. I imagine it must be incredibly hard work to take the cabin down every fall and rebuild it in the spring, but please keep it going as a cabin that hikers dream of visiting. Thank you for your continued efforts. Just one thing—I was surprised that hot water, which is provided free of charge to guests at other huts, is actually charged here.

It seems a bit inconvenient when the restroom is far away and the weather is bad. The open-air bath helps relieve fatigue and is very relaxing.

This was my first time staying here. I understand that there are certain compromises you have to make with a mountain lodge, but the sleeping area was a bit cramped. Also, I’d like to see some curtains—even simple ones—around the sleeping area. The restroom was too far from Building 1, and since it was dangerous in the dark, I held it in all night. It was great that the beer and chu-hai were well chilled—that really helped.

You can charge your devices here—100 yen per session, available until 7:00 p.m. For afternoon tea, they serve curry udon. You can buy beer, tea, juice, and more. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit for the hot springs. There’s a women-only bath area available.

The open-air bath was amazing! I just soaked and got out, soaked and got out, as the mood struck me, and it really refreshed both my body and mind. Many of the men were completely naked, so the women seemed a bit hesitant to get in. Please keep the sake refrigerated.

The sleeping area is rather small; once the mattress on the top bunk is laid out, there’s almost no room left for a backpack, and it’s too close to the mattresses on both sides, making the sleeping space very cramped.

I stayed here with my third-grade son. Even though you seemed very busy, you took the time to chat with my son—who couldn’t stop talking—saying things like, “That’s amazing! You’re such a strong walker,” and I was truly grateful. The bath was wonderful, and I was so happy to be able to take one in the morning. The meals were delicious, too, and it turned out to be the best mountain hike ever.
We are delighted to hear it turned into the best mountain trip with your third-grade son. We imagine our staff enjoyed the time as well, with him chatting away even during a busy moment.
