I was glad there were only four of us in a six-person room. I felt sorry for the people who had to sleep with six others.

I’ve used this service a few times now. I was able to use Starlink on my Docomo phone, and this time I was able to check the weather, make a reservation for a mountain hut due to a route change, and process a cancellation—which was great. However, it would be nice if I could use it in my room as well.

Since the number of tents we were setting up remained the same but the number of people staying in them changed from one to two, we informed the lodge staff of this on the day of our stay. As a result, we were charged the walk-in fee. I suppose it’s my fault for not completing the online registration in advance, and since it’s the rule, I guess there’s nothing to be done about it—but since I wasn’t actually changing the number of tents, I felt they could have been a little more flexible in this regard. However, on the second day, the receptionist contacted headquarters for me, and the change was made. I’m grateful for their assistance.

The room accommodated six people, and it was so cramped that six thin futons were piled right on top of each other—to the point where even the slightest movement would cause you to bump into the person next to you. I’ve stayed at all kinds of mountain huts, but this was the first time I’d encountered conditions this bad, so I was really surprised. The service also felt unfriendly and like they were just going through the motions. Since most mountain huts pay attention to these little details, I found this to be quite unusual. The meals felt like they were just providing the bare minimum. Well, the starry sky from here was truly magnificent, so the location is absolutely fantastic.

Camping at Hakuba Oike. The location is absolutely beautiful—it’s truly breathtaking. As for the facilities, the restrooms are close to the lake and clean. I was told it’s best to filter the water or boil it before drinking.

I stayed here in a tent. I arrived around 12:30, so I was able to secure a spot to pitch my tent with plenty of time to spare, but it seemed like the people who arrived later had a hard time finding a flat spot. (About half of the tent area was off-limits for pitching because a helicopter was scheduled to land.) The restrooms were very clean.
Thank you for camping with us. We understand the tent site conditions may have been inconvenient for some guests, and we appreciate you sharing this feedback. We are also glad you found the restrooms so clean.
