I stayed there in a tent. I thought most of the staff at the lodge were very friendly. It was a shame that, considering the price, I couldn’t use any of the lodge’s facilities at all.

Goryu Mountain Lodge is a popular spot in the mountain lodge scene! This time, I went on a leisurely round-trip hike along the Tomi Ridge with friends who were staying at a mountain lodge for the first time. The curry for dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the young staff members who served us in the dining hall were really friendly!! The restrooms were so clean, you’d never guess they were in a mountain lodge! The rooms were so cramped—with less than one tatami mat per person—that even rolling over in bed was a struggle. It was the narrowest place I’ve ever stayed, but since it’s a mountain lodge, I guess that’s just how it is. However, even though I had pre-registered my companions’ names at the front desk, they didn’t show up in the system, and the staff member who handled it left a bit of a bad impression. I usually stay at mountain huts when hiking, but perhaps because the reception is staffed by “veterans,” many of them seem to have a condescending attitude for some reason. Or maybe the problem lies with me… Still, the weather was great, and Mt. Goryu was as magnificent as everyone says!

There are six sets of bedding in the shared room, which accommodates six guests. Since there’s only one sliding door, the room felt quite warm at night. I’ve also stayed in a room with bunk beds before, and I actually prefer that style. The meals (curry for dinner, boxed lunches for breakfast), the restrooms, and the cleanliness of the room are all excellent.

I was surprised to find that the restroom was very clean and equipped with a Washlet. However, since water is a precious resource, I was a little concerned. Breakfast was a bento box, but since some cabins provide tea in a teapot, I’d really appreciate it if Goryu Sanso offered that as well. I stayed in a “silkworm room,” and since the futon wasn’t very wide, I thought it would be easier to sleep if there were a partition just at the head of the bed. Overall, though, it was clean and I had a pleasant stay. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I was surprised to find that the restrooms were very clean and even had Washlet toilets. The staff were very polite, which left a good impression on me. The drying room was cranked up to full heat, so my laundry dried really well. Also, the food was delicious, but I felt the combination of curry and miso soup for dinner didn’t quite work… How about serving a Western-style soup, like potage or consommé, instead? That way, we wouldn’t need disposable chopsticks either… (lol)

This was my first time staying here. In the shared Japanese-style room, I shared the room with a couple from Osaka, and we had a great time talking about the mountains and our daily lives. I was also able to enjoy a relatively quiet stay at the mountain lodge. There was a changing room behind the restroom, which was very convenient. Thank you very much.

I stayed there while camping. The staff were cheerful and very helpful. I’d love to go back.
