I stayed here for two nights—the day before my hike to Hakuba Oike and the day after I came down from the mountain. The room was bright, and the bathroom and shower were clean. Especially after coming down from the mountain, I was able to check into my room early and take a shower, which helped soothe the fatigue from the hike. Since we were staying for two nights, they kindly adjusted the dinner menu and prepared separate meals for us—I really appreciated their thoughtfulness. It’s close to Tsugaike Nature Park, where the flowers and scenery change with the seasons, so I’d like to stay here again the next time I visit the park.

At dinner on July 30, the woman who poured my draft beer created a creamy head just like you’d find at a beer hall. It was fantastic. The man who poured my second glass used a pouring technique typical of a regular bar, which was a bit disappointing. Dinner was delicious, but I thought it might have been nice to have one more dish. In the morning, I was able to leave my luggage there, and after walking around the nature park, I returned and was given drinking water—the staff’s service was very polite and pleasant. I’d love to visit again.

After recharging with dinner, the staff kindly joined us for a commemorative photo the next morning, and we were able to reach the summit of Mt. Hakuba within the standard time. I stayed in a shared room with bunk beds. Although it was a shared room, I had my own private space, which made it very comfortable. In addition, the room, bath, toilet, and sink were all clean and very easy to use. Dinner included both fish and meat, and it was delicious and satisfying. Breakfast was also good. The staff at the lodge were very attentive, and it was a very comfortable place to stay.

The quality is on par with a regular hotel. I was especially grateful to the front desk staff, who were very kind. We were descending from Mt. Hakuba in wind and rain and weren’t able to eat the bento we’d bought at Hakuba Sanso along the way, but the staff at the Tsugaike Hutte cafeteria kindly told us it was okay to eat there. We were able to enjoy our bento at our leisure while taking shelter from the rain, get ready to head home, and make our way back. Thank you very much!

I used public transportation to get there. I was able to take a leisurely stroll through the nature park while acclimating to the altitude, and I even made it to Mt. Hakuba the next day—I was completely satisfied. The baths were wonderful. I have hearing loss, and I appreciated that the staff at the front desk handled our communication via writing very professionally.
It sounds like a wholly satisfying trip, taking time to acclimatize to the altitude with a stroll through the nature garden before climbing Mt. Shirouma the following day.
