On the day of my visit, a typhoon was approaching, so I was debating whether to cancel and head back down that same day, but the staff at the clinic gave me some advice, so I decided to stay the night. As it turned out, a warm bath completely revived me, and I was so glad I decided to stay here! I spilled the drink I’d ordered at the front desk and made quite a mess. They gave me some paper towels, but it wasn’t nearly enough. When I asked for a dishcloth, the staff member told me to ask someone in the dining hall instead, so I thought it would have been nice if they’d coordinated a little better. The staff in the dining hall kindly wiped down the table for me, which was a big help. For dinner, I was actually in the mood for something curry-based, so I was delighted when they served hash beef. Thank you very much for everything.

The service was good. The futons are only 50 cm wide, which is a bit narrow, but since there are so many guests staying here, I suppose that’s to be expected. We had beef stew for dinner, and it was delicious. The main attraction here is definitely the open-air bath. It’s a mixed-gender bath, and if you try to look in from the outside, you can see everything. But women are required to wear swimsuits, and men don’t mind being seen, so it shouldn’t be a problem. The water is around 44 degrees—a bit on the hot side. Since it’s open 24 hours a day (with designated women-only hours), I ended up taking a bath four times.

I was worried whether I’d be able to make it given my physical condition, but my wish came true and I was able to visit. The hot spring at the mountain lodge was truly exceptional, and I had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

The hot spring was wonderful, especially with the spectacular view from an elevation of 2,000 meters. I thought it would be nice to have a space where you could pour water over your sweaty body before getting into the hot spring, so you could get in without feeling self-conscious. The beer after the bath was ice-cold and absolutely fantastic!

What I Liked The food was delicious. I was also able to have lunch there, which I enjoyed. It would be nice if they put a little more effort into the coffee. It was helpful that a ranger was there to answer our questions. Negative Points The posted mountain weather information was a bit lacking. The restrooms smelled bad, and the smell even reached the baths. I’d like to see a trash strainer or filter installed in the indoor bath where the water is drawn. The morning bath water wasn’t hot—it was just warm. Suggestions It’s worth coming here even without climbing the mountain above, so I’d like to see more benches and decks where visitors can relax. Since check-in time is early, I thought it might be a good idea to have separate time slots for women and men.

I was able to wash away my fatigue in the hot springs. It was the best.

I was told I could only check in at exactly 11:00 a.m. and that I had to set up my tent afterward, so I waited near the lodge for an hour and a half. When I checked in and went to the campground, there were already lots of people who had staked out spots and set up their tents before check-in. I think it would be better if the rules were explained a little more clearly at the time of booking. I also thought it would be a good idea to post a sign at the campground stating that tents can only be set up after check-in. It’s the fault of those who don’t follow the rules, but I’d like them to enforce the rules consistently.

It was such a treat to be able to take a bath at the mountain lodge. It really soothed the fatigue from the hike. I’d love to come back.

The open-air bath was fantastic, and the staff seemed very friendly, but there was one disappointing thing. When I asked about the check-out time, I was handed the guest information booklet and told, “Please read this.” I understand they were busy, but if they had simply replied, “Check-out is at 10:00 a.m. Please read this first before asking any other questions,” I think my stay would have been much more pleasant. My travel companion was very disappointed.
