    Above all, the dinner was wonderful. I’ve stayed here two years in a row, and the food was just as delicious as ever. You can really feel the care that went into the miso soup. The bento boxes were delicious, too—they gave me the energy I needed for my hike. Since there were no curtains on the silkworm racks, I felt a little self-conscious because the men across from me and I could see right into each other’s spaces, but from the room, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Tsurugi at sunset.

Sensing the care that goes into the miso soup is the best kind of encouragement for the staff who make it. Thank you for mentioning the lunch box giving you energy for the climb too. We take seriously your comment about the lack of curtains in the shared sleeping shelves leaving you and the group across from you fully visible to each other, and we'll consider this for future improvements. The panoramic sunset view of Mt. Tsurugi from the room sounds wonderful. We hope to welcome you back to the mountains of Hakuba, in the Japanese Alps.

    Check-in on the day of my stay, based on my advance reservation, went smoothly, and I was able to check in right away. My room was on the second floor, but since the top of the ladder juts out toward the front, climbing up and down required concentration and some physical effort. Since I couldn’t let my guard down until I was lying down on the futon, I’d rate the room as average. The hamburger steak for dinner was delicious. It might be a little light for those with big appetites, though. The bed is narrow, so if you toss and turn a lot, you might find it uncomfortable to sleep. The futon sheets were torn and had some stains. Although I’ve listed some drawbacks, I’m very grateful that—despite being in such a remote area—the facilities are well-maintained, the meals are sufficient, and there’s a bed where I can sleep soundly. Overall, I’m satisfied.

    I stayed here on a weekday. Since there weren’t many guests, I was able to use an entire section of the silkworm racks all to myself, which was very comfortable. The changing room was a huge help, and the restrooms were very clean. I’d definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

    First of all, I’d like to thank the people who built this place in such a location and those who maintain it. The service was great, the food was delicious, and since it’s right in the middle of Kireto, there weren’t many people—which made it a really nice experience. The interior was also very clean and comfortable.

    I’m dissatisfied with the attitude and customer service of the person in charge at the front desk—someone who acted all high and mighty. I’m really upset by the condescending way they treated me, as if to say, “You’ll understand if you just read this!” It was a cabin I’d really wanted to stay at, so I even shortened my itinerary to make a special reservation there, but it was a real letdown.

    I stopped by during a mountain trek that started at Happo-one, continued along a traverse of Mt. Karamatsu, Mt. Goryu, and Mt. Kashima-Yarigatake, and ended with a descent to Ogizawa. Since it was the last day of a long weekend and the mountain hut is located on a challenging route, it wasn’t crowded at all, so I was able to enjoy plenty of space (it was fun because everyone staying there was a true mountaineer). The Wi-Fi was available to the public, and I was able to use my credit card to purchase water and other items, which was a huge help. I was also pleasantly surprised by how delicious the meals were. I opted for a bento box for breakfast, which was also delicious, and thanks to that, I was able to make it down safely. Thank you very much. I highly recommend this lodge for treks that pass through the Happo Kirettsu.
