I was happy that the restroom was clean and that the room had not only electrical outlets but also USB Type-A and Type-C ports. The check-in process was also innovative, as it involved simply entering information on a tablet and scanning a QR code.

While it’s understandable that the water pressure isn’t great right at the summit, the restroom facilities and other amenities at the Northern Alps Summit were excellent, and I was truly impressed by how cheerfully the staff greeted me whenever we passed each other in the hallway. Thank you very much.

I’ve heard that the Goryu Mountain Lodge used to get extremely crowded back in the days before the COVID-19 pandemic, when they had a “no one turned away” policy—partly due to its location. My father, whose memory is a bit hazy, wasn’t able to go there very often due to the times, but among his few traverse experiences, the one where he had to squeeze into an overcrowded mountain hut by alternating the direction of his face and feet—sleeping with someone else’s feet right in front of his face—was most likely at Goryu Mountain Lodge (this was over 50 years ago). Times have changed; it now operates on a reservation system with no overcrowding. Still, it’s a hugely popular mountain hut that’s nearly full even on weekday nights. The food lives up to its reputation—it’s delicious (the breakfast bento was even better than I expected). The restrooms are basic but equipped with bidet functions. With excellent smartphone charging facilities and more, it was so comfortable that I found myself wondering how my father—who used to hike long ago—would feel about it. Thank you so much. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a mountain lodge. I don’t eat much, so I usually leave some rice in my curry, but I finished every last bite of breakfast. The room was clean, and best of all—the toilet didn’t smell! Even the outdoor toilet didn’t smell—I was really surprised by that! The staff were efficient and pleasant, and it was a really great lodge. The only downside was that it was overcast the whole time. I’d love to come back when the weather is nice.

It was a rainy hike and we got soaked, but I’m so grateful to the kind staff who lit the stove in the drying room to help us dry off.

Since it was raining, even though check-in wasn’t until noon, they let me check in at 10 a.m. I really appreciated how they accommodated me based on the situation. The restrooms and changing rooms were clean, and I was really surprised to find that the restrooms had Washlet toilets. The mirror in the restroom sink area was large, making it easy to see myself. The drying room had a powerful jet heater that dried my wet clothes in no time—it was a huge help. It was especially great that I could even dry my wet shoes there. Breakfast had a stylish vibe—so much so that I found myself thinking, “Is this really a mountain lodge⁉️” Of course, the curry for dinner was delicious, too. All the staff members were efficient and friendly, allowing me to enjoy a comfortable stay at the mountain lodge. Thank you very much.

Following our guide’s advice, we stayed an extra night to avoid bad weather. Thanks to that, we were able to successfully traverse Goryu, Kirett, and Kashimayari. It was also thanks to the famous curry 🍛—I had two helpings over the two days, which gave me the energy I needed! Thank you so much 🥰

Since it wasn’t fully booked on a weekday, the four of us shared a room in the “Kaiko” dormitory that sleeps seven. The mattresses were about shoulder-width plus a little extra, but both the mattresses and the futons were clean, so we were able to sleep well. You can’t really expect luxury in a mountain hut, but since there were no partitions between beds, I felt it was a bit tough to sleep this close to complete strangers. It looks like it was renovated last year—the toilet has a Washlet and is spotless! The drying room dries clothes really well! The curry for dinner is a classic and delicious! The breakfast was served in lovely bowls and tasted great! There was a sign saying “Water is more precious than money!” Guests also pay 300 yen for 500 ml of boiled water. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I bought a sticker instead of the famous T-shirt. I think the reservation system is great because it ensures that only people who are actually staying there make reservations!

The staff was polite and friendly. I was glad they served not only canned beer but also draft beer. I bought the T-shirt I was looking for and was very satisfied. The spicy curry I had for dinner was delicious.
