The staff at the front desk and gift shop were very friendly, which made me feel right at home. The curry for dinner was a little on the sweet side for someone like me who likes spicy food, but it was simmered to perfection and tasted great. The miso soup was just what my body needed after walking so much and working up a sweat. The restrooms were clean, too, so I was very satisfied.

I stayed at Goryu Mountain Lodge. The restrooms seemed to have been renovated and were very clean, and I appreciated that we could get seconds of the curry served for dinner. I was also surprised to find that the charging facilities for smartphones were so well-equipped—there were outlets in every room, and they were even available to tent campers and travelers just passing through.

Each room in the large dormitory was equipped with a charging outlet. A poster with safety precautions for using portable chargers was posted at the entrance to the dormitory, and I thought it was probably because it’s safer to use the outlets rather than risk a fire caused by cheap portable chargers.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. The rice was on the softer side, which is just how I like it.

Considering it was a mountain hut, the rooms and restrooms were very clean. For dinner, they served curry with unlimited refills, and it was delicious. There’s no bath, but since huts on ridgelines generally don’t have one, this is to be expected.

First, on the positive side, many of the staff members were smiling and provided service that really made me happy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could enjoy curry and rice at an altitude of 2,500 meters, and the building was clean overall—I was especially shocked to find a Washlet in the restroom. On the downside, since I stayed in a silkworm-rearing rack, I knew I shouldn’t expect too much—but even so, I found it difficult to cope with the fact that there was almost no place to put my luggage and the sleeping space was only about the size of a semi-single bed. That said, overall, I think Goryu Sanso was a wonderful mountain lodge that made me genuinely want to stay there again.

I used it while camping in a tent. The wind was so strong that I had a hard time falling asleep. I’ve decided that next time there’s a strong wind, I’ll stay in a mountain hut instead.

The room was cleaner than the other cabins, but the sleeping area was small. The bathroom was the cleanest one I’ve seen so far, which was great.

I heard it was renovated last year, and the restrooms and dining hall were really clean. It was great that the sleeping areas were spacious. I was also happy that they accepted credit cards. There was a small kitchenette where we could use the stove to cook our own meals, which was a huge help. I was able to get one of those classic “I Love Mountains, I Love Sunny Days” T-shirts, so the trip was definitely worth it!

I stayed in a shared room. Since it was an off-peak day in the 8-person room, I was able to leave one bed empty between me and the person next to me. The facility was clean, and the restrooms were especially spotless. I was happy that I could get a second helping of the curry served for dinner. For breakfast, I opted for a bento box. It contained vinegared rice similar to chirashi sushi, with salmon, umeboshi, and pickles. Eating it after an early morning hike helped replenish my salt levels, and it was delicious. I was able to use PayPay to purchase my mountain badge. It was also helpful that I could buy boiled water at a low price. (Water from the vending machine cost 700 yen.) The staff at the mountain lodge were cheerful and made me feel very welcome. Thank you very much.
We are glad that even in the eight-person room, having space to spare on either side made for a comfortable stay. Thank you also for the kind words about how clean the facilities and toilets were.
