Not realizing that lunch box orders could only be placed online, I tried to order one in person, but they couldn’t accommodate me. It was very different from the system I’d used before and from the systems at other mountain huts. I wish they would make the online reservation process clearer.

The facility was clean, and I had a very pleasant experience there. I also appreciated the consideration shown in arranging the shared room, which was a great help.

The facility is large, which gives me a sense of security. I was surprised to see how new the restrooms were. A vending machine malfunction caused it to swallow two cans of beer (2,000 yen) (lol), but a staff member in the dining hall took care of it right away. Also, during meals, the dining hall staff—including the part-timers—worked very smoothly. The room was a little damp and had a slight odor, but since it’s a mountain lodge, I don’t have any particular complaints!

The facility was very clean, and I had a very comfortable stay. The meals were delicious and hearty.

I was really impressed by the flush toilet🚽. The fifth-generation owner is really doing a great job. It was fantastic to stay there to celebrate the 120th anniversary. I’d love to come back, but I might not be able to tackle the snowfield again. This time, hiking along the ridge was really tough because of typhoon-like gales. We somehow managed to arrive safely at Tsugaike Hut, though we ended up arriving at 2:00 p.m.—an hour behind schedule.

It was my first time staying here, but I had a comfortable stay. I wondered, “A private room that’s just 2 tatami mats?” but it had a place to put my luggage, so it was plenty of space. The food was delicious, and the Sky Plaza was a highlight too! Unfortunately, the weather was terrible—the sky was completely white and visibility was zero. This time, I got completely soaked due to the bad weather, and the drying room felt a bit inadequate. Also, the floor around it was soaking wet—I hope that gets fixed. That said, given the altitude, I guess I can’t really complain. Also, moving from Building 1 to Building 3 is necessary for meals, but even though it’s only a short distance, it was frustrating to get soaked every time due to the bad weather. But I’m truly grateful—I really appreciated being able to stay there. The fried chicken in the bento box was delicious. I’ll be back someday.
