I was able to relax in the lower section of the “silkworm room.” The restroom was new and spacious. When I woke up at 3:00 a.m., the light outside the restroom was on, and I even saw someone putting on makeup. Early in the morning, I watched the sunrise in front of the mountain hut and then headed to the summit of Mt. Goryu. I made it back in time for the 7:30 a.m. checkout, and was able to change clothes and use the restroom. It was a really enjoyable mountain hike.

The room (a Japanese-style room) looked different than I had imagined. The others in the room shared similar opinions, with comments like, "It's smaller than I expected."

I was surprised by how clean the restrooms were. Also, the mountain lodge was very warm, which was a huge help, though it did feel a little too hot at times. As for the curry served at dinner, I know it might be a hassle, but it would be better if we could choose the portion size for the first serving. I was very satisfied.

It’s really convenient that if you’ve booked online, you can check in just by giving your name. When you arrive tired, it’s a hassle to fill out forms or pay, so I really appreciate this system. The staff also mentioned that this system has made their jobs easier. I also appreciate that the campground is right next to the lodge. While many campgrounds require you to walk even further from the lodge once you’ve finally arrived, it’s a real relief to have the store and restrooms nearby, and to know I can head back to the lodge if anything happens. Also, although I didn’t use them myself, there were several tent stakes—presumably left behind—placed next to the front desk, and I think it’s great that they’re available for anyone to use.

I stayed in one of the silkworm-rearing huts at Goryu Mountain Lodge. While the bedding was comfortable, the huts on either side were so close together that I couldn't even roll over as easily as I'd like, so I would have appreciated a little more space between them.

This is a review of the tent registration desk for campers. I finally made it to the mountain lodge despite the driving rain, but when I asked the guy at the desk where the restrooms and water source were, he told me to look at the posted sign. With no guests arriving in the aftermath of the typhoon, he clearly wasn’t busy. In this day and age—not the Showa era—I think such an unfriendly, uncommunal response is an anachronism. It’s a real shame, especially since the campground itself is so nice.

The female staff member’s smile was really pleasant. I thought it would be nice if they expanded their selection of tenugui. The restrooms were clean and comfortable, too!
