While checking the Yamaten forecast, they kindly gave me advice on the best time to depart. Thanks to that, I arrived at Hakuba Sanso just after 2:00 p.m. I got up early and finally made it there from the hut, only to find that the lunch menu had ended at 2:00 p.m. What a shame! I hope there will be better coordination within the group.

Thank you for your hospitality during my climb up Mt. Hakuba. Since I was traveling alone, you were considerate enough to arrange for me to share a room and a table at dinner, which made my stay very comfortable. It was also helpful that you provided hot water and drinking water. The bath was very relaxing, and I used it again on my way down the mountain.

I stayed here the night before climbing Mt. Hakuba. The room was fantastic, with the pleasant scent of tatami mats and clean futons. The toilet and sink were clean and easy to use, and I appreciated that there was a trash can. Also, just being able to soak leisurely in the bathtub before the climb recharged my energy and gave me a boost. I didn’t realize that dinner times were strictly enforced, and when I was five minutes late, someone came to my room to call me down—in a somewhat hurried manner—so I ended up wolfing down my meal in a rush and couldn’t savor it properly, which was a shame. I wish the front desk had informed me that punctuality was required.

While I was having dinner, someone interrupted my conversation with the person sitting in front of me and asked, “Is it okay if I clear away the empty plates?” They also asked, “Is it okay if I take these plates with just a little food left on them?” in a way that made me feel like they were pressuring me, which left a bad taste in my mouth. It was a real shame, especially since it’s such a comfortable place.

I had a very comfortable stay. It would be even better if I could change my reservation to another mountain lodge or accommodation plan.

We stayed here the night before our climb up Mt. Hakuba. My wife and I shared a 4-person dorm room with another pair of men. There were electrical outlets, so it was convenient to charge our cell phones in the room. 　The bath isn’t very spacious, so I imagine it might get crowded during peak season, depending on the timing. My wife mentioned that it took a while to dry her hair with the hair dryer. Dinner offers a wide variety of dishes, and you can have seconds of rice, so you’ll definitely leave feeling full. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants to leave Tsugaike early in the morning.

I really appreciated that the lights in the common areas stayed on even after lights-out.

I stayed in a bunk bed dormitory. It was comfortable, with a luggage storage area and curtains for privacy. I think it would be great if they offered sheet rentals—even if there were a fee.
