The staff were very helpful, and the dinner was surprisingly delicious. However, I’m disappointed by the 3,000-yen deposit requirement that was introduced this year. To be honest, requiring payment one month in advance is too strict. Even on regular trips, there aren’t cancellation fees one month in advance, and above all, mountain weather can be unpredictable, so I really hope they’ll revise this policy.

The twin room was spacious and comfortable, and since it was located in the annex, it was quiet in the morning—free from the noise of other hikers—so I was able to relax. However, because it was at the very end of the building, I couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi in the room; in that regard, the shared room closer to the router was more convenient. Breakfast was served at Sky Plaza rather than the dining hall, so I was able to enjoy a quiet, leisurely meal.

Congratulations on your 120th anniversary. Compared to the Hakuba Oike Mountain Lodge, where we stayed the night before, the Hakuba Mountain Lodge was larger in scale, and its facilities and amenities were excellent. ① Building No. 2 features a drying room (with heating), a changing room, and restrooms with bidets, and it has a large number of private rooms. ② Since it isn’t built like a silkworm rack, you can move around standing up, and the space is spacious. ③ As for meal service, while the self-serve system involves walking around to get your food and the lines can be long, I suppose that’s just how it is. (At Hakuba Oike, although meals were served to your table, you had to return your dishes by table, and the difference in eating speeds among the people I ended up sharing a table with caused some trouble.) ④ I also miss the classic curry rice at Hakuba Oike Mountain Lodge—it’s tastier than the hamburger steak, so I hope they bring it back.

Perhaps because it was a weekday and the weather wasn’t great, there was plenty of space in the room, so I was able to sleep with some distance between me and my neighbor. I was glad the beds weren’t bunk beds. With a separate building housing a gift shop and restaurant, as well as a clinic, I felt it functioned very well as a large mountain lodge.

It was nice—it was small, but it offered plenty of privacy.

The cheerful and efficient service at check-in was especially appreciated since I was feeling tired. Even though the hotel was full, the meal service was well-organized, so I was able to enjoy a delicious meal without any stress. The draft beer at Sky Plaza and the sunset were absolutely amazing.

I had breakfast twice and dinner once at the Sky Lounge. It was a relaxing experience, and the beef stew was delicious. The 8-tatami-mat private room was also spacious and comfortable. The 360-degree panoramic view was amazing.

I was amazed by everything—the facilities, the scale, and more. I think offering this level of service up here on a mountain is really going above and beyond. I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
