I was surprised to find that the restroom was a flush toilet—and it was incredibly clean. It’s definitely the best restroom I’ve ever seen in a mountain cabin.

I stayed in an 8-person dorm room. It’s cramped, so snoring is unavoidable. The restrooms were clean—I was surprised to find they had Washlet bidets. It would be nice if the room had partitions. I find myself gradually expecting amenities on par with those in a restroom. Even after lights out at 9:00, a small light stayed on, and I couldn’t sleep. It would be nice if the pillows were softer. The water tasted great. The cake at the café was delicious. Check-in and checkout at both the front desk and the gift shop were very quick. I was happy to receive a commemorative sticker. The merchandise was a bit pricey. I think more people would shop there if the gift shop had a wider selection. The staff at the front desk and first-aid station were clear, efficient, and very trustworthy. It was fun being so close to the summit. The meal system was very Japanese-style—it was impressive. The natto was delicious. I enjoyed the spectacular views. I thought it was wonderful that there was absolutely no trash on the trail.

The level of service was exactly what you'd expect from Japan's largest mountain lodge. I was surprised to find a toilet with a Washlet. It was very comfortable to use.

I stayed in a shared room. The restroom was very clean, which was great. The food was delicious, but the rice and miso soup were placed in a spot that made them hard to reach, and it was difficult to get seconds. It would have been better if they had been placed somewhere more accessible (like by the aisle or on another table where no one was sitting). It would also have been nice to have a little more common space. Since my au service didn’t work there, it would have been great to have Wi-Fi—even if it was paid.
