I stayed here in a tent this time. The check-in process went very smoothly. I had ordered a bento box, and I really appreciated that they delivered it to my tent in the evening. Also, it was a big help that they let me charge my cell phone for free. It really reinforced my impression that this is a mountain lodge that’s very accommodating to tent campers. I’d definitely like to stay here again.

It was very clean and tidy. Overall, I was extremely satisfied. I’ll definitely go again! ● What I liked ・There are power outlets and USB ports in the silkworm rack room ・The restrooms are clean ・The hallways and restrooms have night lights, so you can go to the restroom even without a headlamp ・The heating in the drying room is very powerful ・Cashless payments are accepted ●Suggestions for improvement (if possible) ・It would be nice to have power outlets on both sides of the room with the silkworm shelves ・I’d love to have 350ml cans of beer and citrus-flavored chuhai available (though I’m already very grateful just to have them) ・The portion of curry for dinner was so generous that I had to really work to finish it; if seconds are free, I’d prefer about half a serving for the first helping

We were told to set up our tents in the lower part of the campground, but there were only two spots available, and the ground on both of them was terribly sloped. I guess the best spots get taken first, but couldn’t they do something about this during maintenance...?

This was my first time staying here. The check-in process was efficient and smooth. Even at 60 years old, I had no trouble at all. The facility was, above all, clean—I thought the restrooms were excellent, too. As expected, the water pressure on the Washlet was a bit weak, but that’s to be expected at a mountain lodge. I was very grateful to be able to use it. My room was changed to a shared Japanese-style room at the last minute. This turned out to be a great decision. Meals: For dinner, we had curry. I was satisfied with both the flavor and the portion size. It was a bit hot inside the lodge at bedtime, so I had trouble sleeping. I suppose that’s to be expected. Breakfast: The side dishes must have taken a lot of time and effort to prepare. What really caught my attention was the umeboshi (pickled plums). They must be really high-quality pickled plums—they were quite good. I’m not happy with the price of the water. 300 yen for 500 ml is way too expensive. I wish they’d set a price that’s a little more guest-friendly. Overall, I have a very good impression, but when I asked a question at the front desk, I felt like they were implying, “It’s written right here,” which made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

This was my second time staying here. Last time I stayed in the “silkworm rack” dormitory, but this time I stayed in a private room with a group of four. The private room was on the second floor; it was quiet and very comfortable. I fell asleep right after dinner and slept soundly until morning. There were plenty of outlets, including a Type C port, so charging my devices was a breeze. The facilities inside the lodge were also comfortable and included amenities you don’t often see at other mountain huts. Needless to say, the restrooms had Washlet bidets, but I was even more impressed by the drying room, which was equipped with a high-powered hot-air heater—the kind you’d find in snowy regions—that dried my wet clothes in no time. It was also convenient that I could pay for purchases using electronic money or credit cards. Mount Goryu is one of my favorite mountains, so I’d love to come back again.

I stayed in a shared room, where the futons—each barely 1 meter wide—were laid out right up against the one next to them. I imagine this is a way to make the most of the limited space so that as many hikers as possible can stay there. However, a few of my friends said their knees bumped into each other when they rolled over in their sleep (lol). Since this happened among friends, it’s just a funny story, but if it were between complete strangers, it might feel a bit awkward. It might be a good idea to reduce the maximum occupancy of the shared rooms by one person to allow for a little more space. The service provided by the staff at the front desk and in the dining hall was excellent, and I was very satisfied.

The rooms and restrooms are so clean, you’d never guess it’s a mountain lodge. I don’t think there’s another lodge around that’s kept this clean. I was also surprised to find that each room has a power outlet, making it easy to charge your devices. The famous curry was delicious, and I ended up going back for seconds—and then some. This is a mountain lodge I’d definitely recommend to others.

Due to the typhoon, we had to extend our stay at the last minute, but they kindly accommodated us. We also received helpful advice from the staff at the base camp, and we are grateful that we were able to make it down the mountain safely.
