I think it would be even better if there were curtains separating each space—even just halfway—to give it a more private feel. The restrooms were very clean, which was great.

The campsite is in a fantastic location, right in front of a flower field. It takes about 4 hours to reach Mt. Hakuba from here, but you can enjoy beautiful scenery even just by taking a stroll along the way to Mt. Shorenge. In early July, there was still some snow, and there were spots along the trail to Mt. Hakuba where we had to walk on snow. (Crampons weren’t necessary.) The ground at the campsite is a mix of soil and rocks, so I recommend using sturdy tent stakes. There are a few rocks you can use as weights, but not many. Also, while you shouldn’t waste water, the abundance of water from the pond is a huge help for cooking and preventing heatstroke. The restrooms are kept clean by the staff, making them very comfortable to use. Starting this year, they’ve implemented a system where you register various details online in advance, so on the day of your visit, all you had to do was scan a QR code to complete check-in—it was very convenient.

I stayed here in a tent. I was grateful to be able to use the restrooms and water (boiling recommended) for free. There was a pond nearby, so I was able to relax and unwind.

I saw a comment in another review saying, “The water smells like chlorine,” but it didn’t bother me. Although the customer service received low ratings, the staff treated us politely. Both the indoor and outdoor restrooms were clean. The guest rooms were partitioned by a hallway and curtains, as well as walls separating them from adjacent rooms. We stayed there as a group of four and found it comfortable. The main course for dinner was a hamburger steak, and breakfast was mackerel.
