It's a cozy little mountain cabin! It has that classic "mountain cabin" vibe! Maybe because my room was right next to the restroom, I could smell it a little even while I was sleeping, which was a bit unpleasant! Well, it is a mountain cabin, so I guess it can't be helped, but I think it would be even better if they could do something about it. The food was delicious, and there was a gift shop—that was great!

This was my first time staying at this mountain lodge, and although I’ve been coming here for three years in a row, it seems the staff no longer smile when serving guests. That alone completely changes my impression of the place. Please focus on providing great customer service ☺️

There was one Japanese male employee with a really sleazy attitude—his customer service was absolutely unacceptable—and it was extremely unpleasant. He talked with his hands stuffed in his pockets and gave vague estimates for when I could pick up the bento I’d paid for. To be honest, it felt like he lacked even the bare minimum of manners or professional attitude. I’m not expecting hotel-level service or hospitality, of course. But talking with your hands still in your pockets? Not even a high school student just starting a part-time job would do that—it’s something even elementary school kids are taught not to do. The other staff members provided excellent service, but that one guy’s negative impact was just too great. Precisely because they’re grown adults, I expect them to have been taught basic manners. The fact that they’re letting someone like that run wild is just crazy. Also, while this might be unavoidable, the faint smell of human waste wafting from the tent sites was a bit unpleasant. But I guess that’s just the way it is.

It was my first time visiting, but I got the impression they might be a little short-staffed. I went to the concession stand near the reception desk to buy a beer, but one of the employees told me the reception desk was busy and to wait. So I waited, and then another person showed up, so the three of us were waiting. After quite a while, they finally told us, “You can buy it right away at the concession stand over there…” We all said, “If that’s the case, you should’ve told us sooner!” So we went to the other kiosk, but the clerk—perhaps busy preparing dinner—took our money and immediately walked away, serving us in a rather curt manner. It left a bad impression.

Perhaps because the lodge was fully booked, our group shared a room with another couple, so it was quite cramped. Other than that, we were satisfied with both the service at check-in and the meals. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed our first mountain hut stay. Thank you very much.

Although the buildings at Oike Mountain Lodge are old, they’re kept very clean, which made for a pleasant stay. The restrooms were comfortable, too. It was helpful that we could bring our own drinking water. The meals were delicious, and overall, it was a comfortable stay. When we were leaving the lodge, the staff pointed out some things we should watch out for along the way. It’s always nice to receive that kind of thoughtful attention.

I often smell feces, which makes me want to open the window, but if I don't, it gets too hot. I'm not sure if there's a way to solve this problem. Other than that, the food is delicious, and the staff are very friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We camped in a tent on a day with a thunderstorm. When the storm intensified overnight, you let us take shelter in the dining area, which was a huge help. Thank you very much. Next time, we’ll pay even closer attention to the weather. There was a great selection of drinks, including beer, “Daisetsukei” sake, and white wine, which we really enjoyed. The tent sites tend to get waterlogged, so please be careful on rainy days. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
