It's nothing special, but nothing bad either. As is often the case with mountain huts, I don't think the customer service is very good.

■Pros Unlimited Wi-Fi, delicious food, unlimited water and hot water (boil the water just to be safe) ■Cons The drying room is too weak, there’s no men’s changing room, the washroom, drying room, and men’s changing area are all in the same space, and the rooms are cramped

This is a great mountain lodge with a beautiful view of Hakuba Oike. I also really appreciate that it offers Wi-Fi via Starlink. If possible, I’d like to request the following two things: 1. Please light the fireplace in the drying room. It’s great that there’s a drying room, but since the fireplace wasn’t lit, my sweat-soaked clothes didn’t dry. If there’s a fireplace, it would be helpful if you could light it. 2. Please add partitions to the rooms. Even a simple screen or curtain would be fine—I’d like to see partitions added to the shared rooms.

We used the campground. The ground was almost completely flat, so it was easy to set up our tent, and there was plenty of space between our site and the neighboring ones. It was wonderful to relax there while enjoying the flower fields and the scenery. The staff at the mountain lodge were also very helpful, which was a great help. This was only our second time camping here, but it makes me want to go camping every year. Thank you very much.

We used the campground. It was flat and spacious, so it was very convenient. We had planned a two-night trip to climb Mt. Hakuba the next day, but there was a severe thunderstorm starting on the first night, and since it didn’t let up at all on the second day, we canceled our plans for the second day and headed back down. Since the thunderstorms continued, I’m not sure how well the ground drains. Perhaps because everyone pitches their tents there, that area was slightly lower than the surrounding ground, and water had pooled there. Since I wasn’t able to climb Mt. Hakuba this time, I’ll try again next year.

Overall it was my first experience to stay at mountain hut. But it was memorable and some of the fantastic views of Japan Alps. The mountain hut hospitality was great. I was surprised that they have wifi even at such high altitude. I would express my gratitude for all the staff for providing excellent service in adverse weather .
