Thank you for your hospitality. Since the building is torn down and rebuilt every year, I can’t really evaluate the rooms. I’m truly grateful just to have been able to stay here. I’m over 60 and just started hiking this year, but this was a truly memorable experience. I stayed here with my daughter; at first, she was reluctant to share a room, but once we were there, she really warmed up to it, so I think we’ll be back next year. I was also surprised to find that the toilets were simple flush toilets. Thank you very much.

This was the first time I’ve ever enjoyed such a comfortable hot spring in the mountains! The staff from Taiwan were very friendly, and all my friends loved it. The only minor downside was that there wasn’t a drying room.

This was a great mountain onsen! The hike down from Hacuba Sanso was trickier as you got closer to the onsen, but a lot of fun! The bathrooms at Yari Onsen are to be expected for a mountain hut. Some guests could clean up after themselves a little better. The shared sleeping quarters are very nice & they grouped people booked together in the same spots rather than separating by gender which was ideal. The meals were very good but they definitely rushed everyone in and out. After 10 minutes at the table they started taking things away even though we were supposed to have 30 minutes. It made it feel a little less welcome to get extra helpings of tea, soup, and rice. The lack of a drying room was tough for rainy weather - jackets and rain covers had to be stored on a leaky porch and just stayed wet rather than drying at all. Outdoor and women’s indoor onsen were great. Outdoor has no privacy from passing hikers though if you prefer to be naked, but awim suits are ok. Overall a great stay!

Unfortunately, it was foggy, but the 100% natural-flow hot spring was wonderful—it’s a place that hot spring enthusiasts will find irresistible. I was delighted that the staff served us with smiles, and I appreciated that we could have seconds of rice and miso soup (soup) for both dinner and breakfast. I’d like to visit again when the weather is more stable. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for your hospitality. I was truly impressed by the hearty miso soup served at breakfast. Since it’s hard to get enough vegetables up here in the mountains, I really appreciated it. I also appreciated being able to use the bath from check-in until 7:00 a.m. the next morning—I ended up taking three baths. During my third bath, I was able to see the stars and the sunrise just before dawn, making it an unforgettable experience.

This is the second year in a row we’ve visited. As always, our time at the hot springs was wonderful. The meat bento we had the next day was delicious, and eating it on our way down the mountain gave us the energy we needed. Thank you very much.

Hakuba Yari Onsen was the best! It totally revived my tired body!

Anyway, the baths are amazing. The selection of light snacks and coffee (instant) is typical of mountain huts, but both the mixed-gender open-air bath and the women’s indoor bath offer stunning views and a wonderful sense of comfort. You can’t see the view outside from the indoor bath unless you stand up, but it’s still fantastic! Also, the hiking trail from Sarukura to Hakuba-Yari Onsen is full of stunning scenery, making this a mountain lodge I’d love to visit again and again.

It was my first time staying at a mountain cabin with a hot spring. It really soothed my soul the other day, too 😆

I ended up staying here after mentioning to a friend that I wanted to visit a hot spring on top of a mountain. Initially, I had made a reservation just for my son and me, and since my friend was able to make it work, she booked separately later on. On the day of our stay, however, we were accommodated as a group of three, including my friend, and were shown to a corner of the facility designed for three people, so it felt almost like a semi-private room. The hot spring water was a bit on the hot side, but I would soak while splashing myself with cold water or sit on the edge of the tub to catch the breeze, spending nearly an hour in the bath each time. Of course, the view was spectacular, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sublime experience of soaking in a hot spring in the mountains. My son loves hot springs, so during our two-night stay, he bathed about eight times. He enjoyed it so much that the staff even recognized him, remarking, “You’ve been in there the whole time, haven’t you?” The meals were also very delicious.
